The first official Test Cricket match took place 140 years ago today (1877). It was a Match between the England and the newly-formed Australian team. As a result Australia won the first test match by 45-runs, C Bannerman scored 165-runs.
Thirteen Test Matches were played amid the period, all amongst Australian and English sides. Most were not styled as agent "Britain v. Australia" challenges, notwithstanding: this depiction was just connected later by cricket analysts. The same is valid for their assignment as "Test matches", which did not go into the vernacular until 1885.[citation needed] Eleven of the thirteen matches played to 1883 were in Australia, where the colonials capitalized on their home leeway, winning seven while England won four, and two matches were drawn.
